Privacy Policy

1. What we collect
When you create an account we collect your name and email address through our sign-in provider (Clerk). If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us; we do not receive your Google password or access to your Google data. Inside the app you enter your household's state, pay settings, your employee's name and address, hours, pay, time off, reimbursements, tax elections (W-4 and state equivalents) and any files you attach.
We do not collect Social Security numbers, Employer Identification Numbers or bank account details. Payment card details are collected and stored by Stripe, never by CareTab.
2. How we use it
We use your data only to provide the service: calculating pay and taxes, generating pay stubs and worksheets, sending reminders you have enabled, and billing. We may send product and lifecycle emails about your account; you can unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time.
3. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that run CareTab: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (billing), Neon (database hosting), Vercel (application hosting and analytics) and Resend (email delivery). Each is bound to use the data only to provide its service to us. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.
4. Google user data
CareTab's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google sign-in data only to create and identify your account.
5. Retention, export and deletion
We keep your data while your account is open. You can export everything at any time from Settings and delete your account from Settings; deletion removes your household, employee and payroll records within 30 days, except where we must keep billing records for tax or legal reasons.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting providers. Access to production data is limited to the people who operate the service. No system is perfectly secure; keep your login credentials private and tell us at once if you suspect unauthorized access.
7. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies only to keep you signed in and remember which employee you are viewing. We use privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics (Vercel Analytics) to see which pages are used; it does not use cross-site tracking cookies.
8. Children
CareTab is for adults who employ household workers and is not directed to children under 13.
